Dr. Hoang’s
MobileCare Mission to Vietnam a Success!
Over a 4-day period, 2,991 patients were evaluated and treated and over 10,000 prescriptions were filled. All this was possible through the combined efforts of 8 doctors, 9 dentists, 10 pharmacists, 3 optometrists, and numerous students.

Each day, the MobileCare team traveled to a different work site within the greater rural Binh Thuan Province where the underprivileged locals were waiting to be seen. A majority of the children were undernourished and were smaller-stature for their age. Some of them came with their sibling and were unsupervised because their parents had to work.

Most adults looked older for their age, reflecting the hardships of poverty and manual labor. There is no health care infrastructure in developing countries such as Vietnam. One must travel to larger cities to seek care and cash payment is expected prior to being evaluated. This trip home to Vietnam was very special to Dr. Hoang, an experience like no other and one that was most gratifying. He will make an effort to return annually and do his part in this humanitarian effort.
