Family Medicine
David L. Boyd is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with twenty years of experience in the medical field. He has multiple experiences in adult and pediatric emergency rooms and critical care services in both community and academic medical centers. David’s most recent experiences come from Providence Saint John’s Health Center, where he implemented revolutionary lifesaving treatments such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy for patients with severe lung disease secondary to COVID-19. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from West Coast University with both his bachelor’s and master’s in the science of nursing degrees, David is pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice at The University of San Francisco. David obtained a family nurse practitioner degree at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and interned at Pacific Oaks Medical Group with the late Dr. Anthony Scarcella. With these experiences, David brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and skills from various clinical backgrounds to his practice at POMG. As a volunteer HIV test counselor at the San Francisco Aids Foundation’s sexual health clinic Magnet, David sparked a keen interest in giving back to the LGBTQ community by providing HIV prevention strategies, care, and treatment. He is empathetic to the fears and needs of patients and passionate about delivering holistic gender-affirming treatment and care.
“ I grew up in a small town in northern California, and I find it extremely rewarding to create a safe space for all patients to receive sexual health treatment and care in an environment free from stigma.”
In his spare time, David enjoys officiating weddings, cycling (Aids Life Cycle Rider 2014), hiking, weight training, international travel, and spending time with friends, family, and his French Bulldog.
